Self-care is something we need to focus on daily. Our 12 month self care challenge helps you stay accountable to yourself, while making it easy and fun.
If you are new to our self-care, check out last month's blog on January's challenge here.
What I love about this challenge is that you don't need to follow each month as given. You can start January's today if you feel like you need to focus on nutrition now or jump straight into February.
February - Unplug and Recharge Your Batteries
February is the month of love. This includes self love. What better way to celebrate yourself by giving yourself a gift of setting digital limits. Can you relate to this scenario:
Wake up to an alarm on your phone --->Check email notifications--->Check text messages--->Scroll on social media--->Start your day--->Repeat. Then you end your day with the phone doing the same thing.
Sometimes we don't realize that how much technology affects our mental health. Use of technology is inevitable, but we can be mindful of how much we use it and when.
This month, focus of creating boundaries that you can live with around your usage and schedule it in your planner. Check back on your progress weekly, and make tweaks as needed. At the end of the month, evaluate how you felt. Did you use that extra time to have more face to face conversations? Did you pick up that book you've been wanting to read, but never had any time to do so? Did you create a night time routine to help you sleep better without involving technology?
Here are some ideas on setting digital boundaries:
- Establish a morning routine that involves prayer, meditation, journaling or reading before you even look at your phone
- Create a time block where you avoid any technology (ie. no phone, TV, computer from 10pm to 9am)
- Remove social media apps on your phone to make it less convenient to scroll mindlessly for hours
- Schedule one day a month and make it a no technology day. Onboard your family member to participate and create a new family tradition. Do things like reading, going outdoors for nature walks, playing boards games, journaling, planning, or getting in your craft room and creating some new.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Please comment below on what you chose to focus on this month and come back after the month is over letting me know how it went.
I really have been waking up between 3:30 and 5 am. I guess I’m start using that time to journal and prayer. I been talking about removing social apps from my phone. Thanks for this
Self-care….I have been preaching for years. Finally people are catching on. Hope it’s not a fad. I have to remind people it is not selfish to put yourself first. It amazes me how guilty people feel to put themselves first. We need to change that mind set. It is important to practice self care everyday.
I’m working on getting up in the morning and not touching my phone. I usually lay in bed, check emails, FB, IG, etc. But this month I’ve been trying to be more intentional about getting up and leaving the phone behind. I’m also unplugging from my phone one evening a week.
I’m leveling up on my self care. I’m getting dressed instead of wearing jeans or jean shorts and a TShirt. I’m putting on clothes & heels. I’m getting my Jazz back.
